Society for Empowerment of TAmilnadu Government Schools (SETAGS) is a Registered Society, started as social initiative started by a group of highly motivated Individuals to improve the condition of Tamil Nadu Government Schools.
Although the founders of SETAGS have been working collectively and individually towards improvement of school and higher education for a long time, during the relief work at Government Schools post Gaja cyclone in 2018, they realized that there were 1000s of Individuals, Organizations, Volunteers, Local Community Groups and Alumni interested in the well-being of TN Government Schools, and were willing to give time, money, efforts, skills, mentorships, services, technology, etc., but the major problem was lack of co-ordination between them, hence the efforts were not well knitted and weren't reaching full potential at all.
The volunteers and Samaritans didn’t have the proper information needed about the damages, the requirements of the schools, the status of works, the activities of other groups, and other crucial information about available funds vs requirement for any particular school, particular need or particular facility.The same requirements were getting overfilled at some places, whereas there were still a lot of pending repairs at some other places due to lack of funds or man-power.
This is where the role of SETAGS comes in. SETAGS has been formed to work with the Department of School Education, Government of Tamil Nadu in coordinating/aggregating Volunteers, NGOs, Corporates, Individuals, Local Communities, TN Government School Alumni, etc., under a single umbrella, making it extremely easy to find resources, share information and coordinate activities going on throughout Tamil Nadu with respect to improvement of Tamil Nadu Government Schools. Not only for the disaster affected schools, but for the entire school system of Tamil Nadu with a long term vision.

To Empower all the Tamil Nadu Government Schools, and bring them to the Best International Standards, thus providing International Quality All-round Education Free of Cost to all Children of Tamil Nadu.
Mission
To Aggregate, Collaborate, Coordinate efforts of various groups like Alumni Associations of Government Schools, Corporates , Volunteers, State and Central Governments , Individuals, Educational Institutions in India and Abroad, and Synergize their efforts to improve the quality of Infrastructure, Education and Students of Tamil Nadu Government Schools.
